Dr. Gwen Pillow and Elisha Rodriguez, Office Manager

Gwen Pillow, D.C. My interest in Chiropractic care was piqued while working as a massage therapist in San Francisco. There I saw how quickly Chiropractic care got to the core of the issue and I knew that I was ready to continue my education. I enrolled at Palmer West College of Chiropractic in San Jose, CA which proved to be an terrific IMG_5789education. Upon graduating I worked at Nova Chiropractic in Santa Clara with Dr. Heather Shaw. With her support, I gained Chiropractic insight and knowledge from her extensive experience.

After having lived in San Francisco, the south Bay Area, and Paris, I wanted to plant roots in a community that was calmer, friendlier and open to complementary alternative medicine – Chiropractic care. We were pleasantly surprised to find North San Luis Obispo County and are happy to have called it home since 2005. We enjoy the good people, the landscape, the wineries, the ocean and all that SLO County has to offer.

I am fluent in French and Spanish. I lived for a year in Paris, France where I learned the language and had lots of fun. Spanish came after French since I live in California where Spanish speakers are in abundance. I studied a couple Spanish conversation classes at San Francisco City College then went to Spain. I was in for a serious awakening; the accent in the South of Spain was not what I studied! I’ve been practicing and studying on my own since and have developed a working Spanish to be comfortable to treat patients that speak only Spanish.

What I do to stay healthy:

I believe in taking care of my good health on a daily basis. I exercise, eat well and take whole food supplements and herbs every day. We cook at home and take advantage of some of the wonderful local restaurants.  Check out our tab on Nutrition for more information.

I also walk our dogs daily; they always seem to know when I need a walk! I prefer to mix it up in terms of my exercise. I run, cycle, lift weights, do a little CrossFit at CrossFit Ergo, yoga at Dharma and take Pilates with Lori DiMauro at Park Street Pilates Studio.

I feel very fortunate in that I love my work! It is so gratifying to see all the positive changes in patients and helping someone “get their life back” (Visit our Success Stories or What Patients are Saying About Us tabs). I am blessed to have Elisha run the front office. I’m sure you will find her brilliant, kind and interesting. She is an important part of what makes our office so special.

Elisha is originally from San Diego and graduated from San Diego State. She was a logger for several years in the Pacific Northwest before moving to the Central Coast with the love of her life, Jr. He is grand champion for the best Goatee on the Central Coast. They have three beautiful kids that are active in sports: cross country running, football, wrestling, softball and basketball. As a family they enjoy sky diving, spelunking and came in first in the SLO Egg and Spoon race in the Spring of 2017. They are a very exciting and fun loving family. Ask Elisha about her Zorbing experience in New Zealand the next time you are in the office!

On a more serious note, Elisha is an expert at our 10 and 21-Day Cleanses. She has great tips, ideas and tasty recipes that are “Cleanse friendly”. Her family even enjoys many of the recipes because they are not “diet food”, but simply good eating! Ask her how to make an amazing breakfast shake, zoodles (zucchini noodles), cauliflower rice or a quinoa dish. She is a wealth of knowledge!
